*In a CMWL multicenter randomized trial involving 550 patients who followed a CMWL Low-Calorie Diet (LCD) or Modified LCD Program, both with and without appetite suppressants, the average weight loss was 2 pounds per week over a 12-week period. The research was wholly funded by an independent third party with the exception of travel expenses. According to a study published in The American Journal of Medicine, participants completing a 12-week medical weight loss program lost 11.1% of their body weight, on average. Results may vary.




I was tired of being tired and overweight. I wanted energy. I wanted to better my health. I wanted to feel good about myself.

My sister told me about the CMWL program, and I was inspired by the stories of others. In March 2012, I knew it was my turn to try it.

From the first day I felt like I not only had a personal physician but also a supportive friend in Dr. Schermerhorn. His encouragement and support kept me motivated, and I could tell he genuinely cared about helping me reach my weight loss goals. The most valuable part of the program wasn’t just cutting calories and restricting food, but it was gaining in-depth knowledge through behavioral counseling of why I should avoid certain foods and choose others. The “why” was one of the biggest factors to my success.

Regular weigh-ins kept me accountable. Initially, I only ate CMWL meals and shakes. I knew exactly how many calories I would be consuming daily, which helped me make good eating choices when I transitioned back to eating regular foods. Today, I eat healthier, keep calories within a certain range, and understand the consequences of making poor eating choices. I knew I was losing weight safely and effectively because Dr. Schermerhorn regularly tracked my muscle and water weight using a Body Composition Analysis scale.

My mind was so made up that I was going to lose weight that this has been one of the easiest battles. Holidays, sweets, and other temptations that used to contribute to weight gain have not been an issue since I began CMWL in March 2012. I leaned on my incredible support system that consisted of my family and Dr. Schermerhorn.

Today, I can proudly say I have more energy, significantly improved my health, and boosted my self-esteem. I dropped six clothing sizes and comfortably fit in an airplane seat. My cholesterol is better than it’s ever been, and I’ve inspired others to change their health habits.

My family and physician have been incredible throughout this entire journey. They have been my support system, and I cannot thank Dr. Schermerhorn enough for what he has done to get me where I am today. You have nothing to lose with CMWL but weight!
