Dr. Feuer(Kingwood,TX)

Starting Weight: 252 pounds

Current Weight: 188 pounds

Total weight lost: 64 pounds*

*In a CMWL multicenter randomized trial involving 550 patients who followed a CMWL Low-Calorie Diet (LCD) or Modified LCD Program, both with and without appetite suppressants, the average weight loss was 2 pounds per week over a 12-week period. The research was wholly funded by an independent third party with the exception of travel expenses. According to a study published in The American Journal of Medicine, participants completing a 12-week medical weight loss program lost 11.1% of their body weight, on average. Results may vary.

If it weren't for the wonderful doctors and staff at The Center for Medical Weight Loss in Kingwood, I don't think I would be where I am today. And where I am is in state of great health! I almost don't recognize the person I used to be, before I truly learned how to lose weight and keep it off.

My weight loss challenges actually began many years ago following a hysterectomy at the age of 28. After that surgery I experienced a lot of weight gain, and it seemed impossible to take off. Like many people I had tried a number of popular weight loss programs and products, like Weight Watchers, NutriSystem, Atkins and over-the-counter diet pills. I did lose some weight with each of them, but they weren't sustainable. I became bored and inevitably the weight came back.

As years passed and I put on more pounds, I could feel the negative effects being overweight had on my health, especially in the form of tremendous knee pain. In fact, my doctor diagnosed me with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) and osteoarthritis. I had trouble standing for long periods of time, climbing stairs, and walking long distances. Fatigue was also a problem, and I became so tired of being tired all the time.

Weight loss was a big topic between my RA doctor and me. I learned that with every pound lost I would lose four pounds of pressure on each knee. I knew I needed to get back on the weight loss wagon, but wasn't sure how I was going to do it. As timing would have it, I learned that a friend at work had been losing weight following a program at The Center for Medical Weight Loss in Kingwood, Texas. At first I was a little skeptical about seeing a doctor for weight loss, but my RA doctor gave CMWL in Kingwood great reviews. So I made an appointment, and like that, changed my life.

Dr. Feuer and the entire staff at CMWL have been very supportive in my journey to lose weight. Doctor Feuer listened to my concerns, gave me advice, and cheered me on as I lost weight. He still does as I continue to see him in my Maintenance Phase. The office staff is one of the best I have ever had the pleasure of working with. They are always happy and smiling, very accommodating with scheduling and truly care about their patients. The most important part was having to be accountable each week when I would come in to weigh in. I knew I would have to answer to someone, but never feared any judgment. It's just not like that at CMWL.

Today, I feel like a different person. I have more energy, can walk longer distances and climb stairs without getting out of breath. I also love to shop for regular size clothes. I feel like I look better and my husband always compliments me on my new outfits. He has been one of my biggest supporters throughout the process. Having someone to root you on is so important.

I have also really committed to adopting the type of lifestyle needed for a healthy weight. I make healthy menu choices when dining out, which my husband and I frequently do. I've learned how to control my chocolate sweet tooth (although I have a little piece now and then). And I compete in FitBit walking challenges. This is coming from a person who never liked to exercise! The accountability of my FitBit group really keeps me moving.

Making that first call to CMWL in Kingwood was one of the hardest and best things I have done for myself. I came to a realization that I had to take care of myself, and the first step was to lose weight. Once I made that commitment, I was determined to stay the course and achieve my goal.
